This week's challenge is to clean just a bit more than you normally do. If you're thinking, hmmm that's never, then maybe just for 10 minutes! Here's why. Cleaning can help remove toxic chemicals from your home. Things like phthalates, flame retardants, and lead all end up in normal house dust just from daily life. But, if you vacuum, and wipe things down with a damp cloth you can trap and remove a bunch of it. And, if you switch up your cleaning supplies to DIY versions or safer, non-toxic versions, you can make your cleaning routine even healthier. Check out our green cleaning checklist if you're lost on where to start.
At least once this week, try cooking in something besides a nonstick pan. Once you figure out the tricks, you’ll learn to love your #castiron, #carbonsteel, and #stainlesssteel pans as much as we do. Plus, they will last literally forever if you take care of them, unlike traditional nonstick pans. So, whether it’s your eggs in the morning, your grilled cheese for lunch, your pizza for dinner, or even some dessert, give alternatives to nonstick a chance. Click through the link in bio for our tips and tricks for cooking without toxic non-stick coatings. Tag @because_health and #BHchallenge in your photos and tell us your favorite #notnonstick swap. 📸 :@thehumbleoven, our talented writer and cook

Foil containers are also relatively safer. 2) The next best options are plastic containers that are recyclable and marked with the number 2 or the number 5. These plastics are safer and are usually recyclable in most places. 3) Styrofoam is bad. Try to stay away. It leaves yucky chemicals in your food and is horrible for the environment. 4) Those brown cardboard-y bowls that look natural like they should be better for you, but aren't. They basically all have PFAS (like Teflon) chemicals in them. Don't forget to take a picture of your plastic free lunch #BHchallenge .
This week the challenge is to pack a plastic-free lunch. Packing a plastic-free lunch is healthier, even if it’s some leftover cheesy pizza, cause you are avoiding all sorts of extra packaging materials that can leave yucky chemicals in your food. Plus, those piles of plastic takeout containers overflowing out of the recycling bin everyday after lunch are kind of sad, right? Don’t forget to tag your photos with @because_health and #BHchallenge.
1) Only 32% of plastic water bottles are recycled 2) There are no quality standards for bottled water 3) Climate change 4) Climate change (again! ) 5) It's expensive. Read more in our link in bio. Post your water bottle photos for this week's #BHchallenge! #Repost @pauladawn ・・・ #soultogether day two thank YOU inspired by everyone who signed up and doing a little challenge of my own! i’m trying to be more mindful about my waste so ill be using this reusable water bottle (you can slap that fiji out of my hands if you see me drinking one in class 🤪). they say it takes about 21 days to implement a habit so by the end of the challenge i should be good to go! no more piles of plastic water bottles in my car. what challenge are you taking on this month?
Leave your (empty! ) reusable plastic water bottle in your car as a backup bottle. If you are running errands and get thirsty, filling up the reusable plastic bottle is still way better than buying a bottled water at a corner store. Click on the link in bio to read more tips on how to safely use the plastic water bottles you already own. 👋Don't forget to post photos of your reusable water bottle and tag @becausehealth and #BHchallenge. We're reposting in our stories and will pick a winner at the end of the month for a prize.
All of our favorite glass and stainless steel water bottles, in case you need to pick up a new one for the Week 1 #BHchallenge. Getting a water bottle that you really like, might motivate you to drink more water! Crush those hydration goals!
We’re starting off simple. Bring and use your reusable glass or stainless steel water bottle. Let’s ditch the plastic and make sure that your water is as healthy as can be for you and the planet. Plastic water bottles can leach unwanted chemicals into the water inside and yeah, we’ve seen enough depressing videos about single-use bottles polluting our oceans, so let's do this! We know it's hard to remember sometimes, so this is your extra motivation. Show us where you are taking or refilling your water bottles this week and remember to tag @because_health and #BHchallenge .
