(pun intended) DiatomaceousEarth is made from the grinding up the remains of teeny tiny aquatic creatures called diatoms into a fine powder. This powder is safe for humans (but make sure you wear a mask while applying) and pets but kills insects like fleas and ticks! Put the powder around the outside of your house and reapply after it rains to keep those annoying insects at bay! Have you used DiatomaceousEarth before? Let us know! ⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ ⠀ ⠀

We’ve got some suggestions below! ⁣ -Easy art projects: Minimum setup, maximum fun! Have your little one gather small rocks, leaves, and flowers. The rocks can be used to paint silly faces. Place the flowers and leaves between two pieces of paper, gently pound on the top with a hammer (under supervision of course! ), and see how the colors and shapes transfers. ⁣ -A scavenger hunt is a great way for kids to get moving! A twig, a pretty flower, and a heart-shaped rock can all be part of your next hunt. 🔍⁣ -You can’t go wrong with a classic water gun tag 🔫! Super easy to set up and kids love it. ⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ ⁣ ⁣
Along with checking square footage and appliances, make sure you see what green space is around 🏡! Living by trees, parks, and hiking trails makes it super easy to get outside and be active. Plus, studies have also shown that living near green space can help improve mental health. A walk around the neighborhood might help you de-stress after the big move! 💆‍♀️⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣

Achoo 🤧!

Have you felt like you’ve been sneezing more than usual? Climate change may be to blame. A changing climate means a longer allergy season, whether it be mold/pollen from increased rain or dust/soot from increased drought. While we can’t control the weather ☔️, there are some things you can do to help reduce your symptoms. HEPA filters can trap a ton allergens and mold, and it may be worth investing in a vacuum/air filter that has one! Link in bio for more ⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ ⁣ ⁣
Flame retardants. These chemicals are in a ton of consumer products, but they’re not so good for your health. Flame retardant chemicals can easily move from a product onto our skin. ⁣ A recent scientific study has shown that increased household cleaning 🧹or hand washing 🧼(or both! ) can reduce your exposure to flame retardants by half. Removing dust and washing hands before eating are key in reducing the amount of chemicals you’re exposed to. A new reason for spring cleaning! ⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ ⁣ ⁣
But even if it’s #oneofthosedays and no one has left the house, kids should definitely wash their hands before eating. Chemicals like flame retardants and lead can be found in household dust. Kids that crawl/play on the floor and eat with their hands can have more dust exposure than adults. To make hand washing more fun for little ones, try using one of our recommended hand soaps or wash while singing a silly song- as long as you sing for at least 20 seconds! There are a ton of chemicals we come into contact with throughout the day in places you’d least expect it (like laptops). One simple tip to reduce your exposure to chemicals: wash your hands more! We recommend washing your hands before eating or snacking, after your commute to work/home, and after you go to the gym. Although shouldn’t you be doing this anyway? 🧐⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ ⁣ ⁣
