This week the challenge is to pack a plastic-free lunch. Packing a plastic-free lunch is healthier, even if it’s some leftover cheesy pizza, cause you are avoiding all sorts of extra packaging materials that can leave yucky chemicals in your food. Plus, those piles of plastic takeout containers overflowing out of the recycling bin everyday after lunch are kind of sad, right? Don’t forget to tag your photos with @because_health and #BHchallenge.
We’re starting off simple. Bring and use your reusable glass or stainless steel water bottle. Let’s ditch the plastic and make sure that your water is as healthy as can be for you and the planet. Plastic water bottles can leach unwanted chemicals into the water inside and yeah, we’ve seen enough depressing videos about single-use bottles polluting our oceans, so let's do this! We know it's hard to remember sometimes, so this is your extra motivation. Show us where you are taking or refilling your water bottles this week and remember to tag @because_health and #BHchallenge .

That's because over time plastic breaks into smaller pieces we call microplastics. These pieces can be so small that they get through our water filtration systems or fish think they look like food. That means we as humans are then drinking or eating them, too. So, not only does plastic litter make our beautiful waterways look pretty junky, but it's harming our health. Every time we remember to bring a reusable bags or bottle instead of getting a plastic one, we are making a difference in our own health the health of future generations. #plasticfreejuly #becausehealth #reducereuserecycle #reusablestraw #reusablebags #reusablebottle #byo #stopsucking #microplastic #plasticfree #Repost @mindfullychic_ with ・・・ Mindful Monday ✨ Day 16 #PlasticFreeJuly | Yes it's shocking isn't it? In addition to the obvious that means every toothbrush your parents, grandparent, everyone you know (almost) has ever used back until the 1940s is still here! 😳 Stop for a second & think about all the extra plastic in your life now... your phone cover, in the kitchen, the pen on your desk, the car dashboard - even for most people the toilet seat! We can't escape it & it's getting worse. We can change it, but we have to start taking positive actions.
You know, those random slips of paper that end up crumpled at the bottom of your bag that are really only helpful if you need to get rid of that peice of gum you've been chewing on for two hours. Well, the easiest thing you can do is just say "nope, I don't need a receipt" next time you are checking out. By not touching it, you're lowering the amount of BPA you come in contact with in a day. Yep, #BPA, that stuff that you don't want in your water bottle or canned food, is also covering receipts. Saying no to receipts, and asking brands like @Target to switch to BPA free recitps, is greatly improving your health.
